Equity Partnerships: A Culturally Proficient Guide to Family, School, and Community Engagement
Dr. Reyes L. Quezada & Dr. Angela Louque
This webinar will discuss “Equity Partnerships: A Culturally Proficient Guide to Family, School, and Community Engagement” book, co-authored by Angela Louque, Randy Lindsay, Reyes L. Quezada & Cynthia Jew. The purpose is to recommend ideas and strategies for engaging culturally diverse families through the lens of the Cultural Proficiency Framework. The content encourages educators to reflect on their assumptions, policies, and practices, particularly when working with families whose backgrounds differ from their own. It features questions to promote reflection among educators seeking to develop their own equitable engagement practices. A key feature of this discussion is the introduction of a new framework to support family-school, and community engagement through the 7 Cs (collaboration, communication, caring/compassion, culture, community, connectedness, and collective responsibility).
